POLYETHYLENE Recoveries recently took ownership of its second Zerma machine, this time a Zerma granulator to help increase the Boksburg recyclers output and production in their wash plant.
The company commissioned its first Zerma machine, the Zerma ZSS-1200 single-shaft shredder, in the firsthalf of last year and was extremely happy with it.
“We bought the new Zerma GSH-700/1000 heavy-duty granulator, complete with feeding conveyor system and metal detector, because of the excellent workmanship on Zerma machinery – and it has certainly met all our expectations,” said Ashley Shub, managing director of Polyethylene Recoveries.
Shub said that the new Zerma granulatorhas already helped to increase production by 20% in a very short space of time.
“This is because of the aggressive tangential cutterhouse design, in conjunction with the heavy-duty 5-blade H-rotor and addition of a third stator blade, which is removable, giving added flexibility,” explained Jeff Cawcutt of Zerma.
Cawcutt said the GSH-700/1000 is Zerma’s best-selling model in the GSH range, based on its toughness, customisability, high capacity, ease of maintenance with easy to remove and inexpensive to replace wear parts, and a very well balanced rotor ratio of 7:10.
“Our down time on blade changes has also reduced by an hour and a half - definitely an added bonus as far as our production is concerned,” added Shub.
“What’s more, the recycler’s power consumption has reduced on this granulator, despite the fact that we have a 20% increase in production - a bonus considering the cost of electricity.”
