IN A world with a rapidly growing population, managing resources more efficiently is a critical issue. That’s why Dow is working closely with its customers and partners to create convenient and responsible packaging and hygiene solutions which ensure goods can be safely transported; protect and preserve food and provide reliable protection, discreetness and maximum comfort.

Move it Safely

‘Move it Safely’ stands for industrial and consumer packaging solutions that meet the needs of an evolving society and food supply chain, where goods need to travel longer distances and where globalization is increasingly requiring safer, cheaper and more sustainable transport solutions. It is Dow’s vision to ensure all goods are safely transported along the supply chain to the end consumer, through the improvement of pallet load stability.

In South Africa, market drivers and trends include: middle class and urbanization growth, strict legislation on packaging, sustainability, cost, and the need for load stability and efficiency in pallet packaging and wrapping. To this end, Dow offers the Toolbox and ELITE™ AT 6111 high performance resins for tailor-made stretch film solutions that provide easy processing, downgauging potential and high load stability.

Another major end application in the region is collation shrink, driven by population growth and water scarcity. Dow offers an advanced ‘Tool Box’ to serve the collation shrink market, with solutions to increase packaging resource efficiency such as INNATETM which reduces the amount of wasted goods and offers superior toughness.

Fresh to Table

‘Fresh to Table’ stands for consumer packaging solutions that meet the needs of a rapidly evolving society, as well as the increasing demand for material performance and functionality, sustainability, cost effectiveness, brand differentiation, shelf appeal and consumer convenience. It is Dow’s commitment to drive change in the plastic packaging industry, to give end users what they want.

In South Africa, limited disposable income as a result of limited growth, rising inflation, volatility in the labour market, extended periods of drought and rising utility cost means the demand for cost efficiency and small portion packs is on the rise.

Dow’s solutions for ‘Fresh to Table’ include: INNATE™, offering superior toughness for food packaging materials optimization and micro-foaming technology to enable downgauging in flexible packaging; AGILITY™ to run faster and lighter coatings, and a sealants portfolio (DOWLEX™ and AFFINITY™) to run faster packaging processes with good packaging integrity, and MOR-FREE™ and ADCOTE™ for efficient and reliable lamination.

Active Comfort

‘Active Comfort’ stands for hygiene solutions that improve the wellbeing of consumers through reliable protection, discreetness and maximum comfort for inclusive and active lifestyles. It is a life free from restrictions where everyone can thrive and fulfil their potential; a life full of movement and adventure.

Dow’s solutions for Active Comfort include DOWLEX™ – for improved strength and processibility, and AGILITY™ – to run faster & lighter coatings with EC 7000 for extrusion coating to nonwovens.
