A NEW dedicated toolroom has started in Cape Town: Precision Moulds & Engineering has set up in Brackengate Business Park, Brackenfell, where it is building injection moulds.

Started by Craig Apsey, who qualified as a toolmaker in 1990, the company also does repairs to moulds and can work on moulds up to about one ton.

Apsey followed an interesting route prior to taking the plunge with the new venture, with most of his experience to date being in the product design and production management areas, yielding arguably the best ingredients for the owner-manager environment. He also spent time in the mould design and production sector.

Precision Mould runs CAD design packages and specialises in complicated injection moulds. It has installed a complete range of CNC equipment including lathes, machining centres, surface grinders and spark eroders and is employing a number of toolmakers.
