TEQAL Creative Packaging, a new manufacturer of rigid packaging involving Sean Kirkham of Consupaq fame, has gone into operation at Dube Trade Port near King Shaka Airport in KZN.

Teqal has three partners, Renee Kirkham (financial), Dean Mitchel (operational & tooling) and Sean, who is the new company’s marketing director and also responsible for product development.

Teqal has a modern, efficient production platform and state-of-the-art toolroom, according to Sean. Mitchel doubles up as the company’s designer, using the best CAD/CAM software available, while Renee Kirkham has also implemented Teqal’s ERP/Real Time Monitoring systems.

“We have taken everything to the next level by combining the best skills in the industry with modern equipment, mostly sourced from Europe. We wanted to do more than what we had done at Consupaq, so decided to take control of our own design and injection mould tooling. We engage with customers, design, 3D print, manufacture our own tooling and then mould the product, all in-house. This ensures confidentiality and sustainability,” said Sean.

“Our focus is on injection moulded rigid plastic packaging,” said Sean, who had been ‘semi-retired’ since 2010.

“During the seven years I have been a new dad, built an aeroplane, developed some property on the North Coast and ridden my mountain bike the length and breadth of Southern Africa. Packaging has always been close to my heart, so I’ve stayed current with the newest technologies by attending many international trade shows including Interpack, the K, Labelexpo, Fakuma and others.

“At the beginning of 2016 I started to make contact with a few old packaging colleagues and in February 2017 decided to get back in,” said Sean.

“Teqal will keep developing one stable production platform after another and building on our strong reputation,” he added.
