SD Plastics & Projects have successfully installed a polypropylene strapping production line with some of its product range already entering the market.
The Jiangsu Beier Machinery 90mm dual extrusion line, supplied by and commissioned by Cabletech Marketing, was installed with an extra SCM dosing unit to ensure the best product possible.
The machine is capable of manufacturing a dual stand ranging from 5mm up to 19mm bandwidth, with an overall thickness of 0.5mm to 1.2mm. They 90mm extruder has a throughput of 100kg/h based on a 19mm width band. Installed with 3 PLC auto winders, the preheating and stretching units on the machine
The new strapping line accommodates all requirements in the industry, says SD Plastics & Projects’ founder and owner, Samuel Dani Mumalo. The company has also invested in its own tensile tester, enabling them to test the breaking strain on their products and thus ensuring good quality strapping before leaving the factory.
Mumalo has been in the strapping manufacture industry since 1989. Seeking work during 1996, he was hired by Rexel Productions, where at the time, Hennie Meyer recognized his potential and hired him as a quality controller.
In 2008 Mumalo left Rexel after making the decision to establish SD Plastics & Projects, along with his son Paul. The plant, in Mainreef Park, Denver, Johannesburg, also offers a range of S-PVC pelletized material.
