Biggest plastics wash plant in Africa

Tufflex in Germiston has installed what is almost certainly the biggest wash plant in Africa.

The line, from Herbold of Germany, can clean post-consumer polyolefin materials and process about 500 tons a month, in other words over 15 tons/day, which is substantial. Tufflex’s Charles Muller and the company’s new production manager, Deon Swart, estimate the line will be operational by early December. The Herbold system involves successive washing steps along with thermal drying and dust extraction before the material is re-extruded into pellets
